Diamond Care

Here are a few ways to clean diamonds:

  • The detergent bath:

Prepare a small bole of warm suds with any mild household detergent. Brush the jewelry with tooth/ brush while in the suds. Be sure to scrub the under-side of the stone (inside the band), this is where oil and dirt from your finger collects. Rinse under warm running water and pat dry with a soft, lint less cloth.

  • The ultrasonic cleaner:

Ultrasonic cleaners are very helpful in cleaning jewelry. The use of sound waves to “vibrate” the dirt free from the jewelry, makes it possible to remove particles un-reachable by a brush. Diamonds Forever offers a relatively inexpensive machine that is ideal for home use. Since each machine is different, read the instructions carefully before using

  • Steamer:

The steamer is the “pressure washer” of the jewelry cleaning tools. It uses pressurized distilled water to remove dirt and oil from the piece. It is the quickest and most effective method for cleaning. The distilled water saves the life of the machine and the steam insures that the cleaned piece will not water spot. Diamonds Forever sells a steamer ideal for home use.
