Getting
engaged is one of the happiest and most exciting times in a couple’s
life. Many men go to great efforts to ensure the moment is memorable.
Here are a few ideas that may help you plan the perfect proposal.
- Go to a local museum and ask if they would put the ring on display
with a card reading that this was the very ring used by you on
that particular day to ask her to be your bride.
- Buy a small book of poetry and make a cutout the size of the
ring through all of the pages. Place and tape the ring into the
empty space. Write your own special poem, insert it into the first
page of the book and present it to her.
- Take her for a surprise picnic at the beach,
or in the woods. At the picnic spot, spell out “Marry Me” with
stones, flowers or seashells. Put the diamond in her hand when
she says yes.
- Take a camping trip and propose under the stars while you are
cuddled up together by a campfire.
- Buy a fortune cookie and steam it for about
5 minutes until it’s soft and malleable. Open the cookie; place the ring
inside with a note telling her how she’ll be loved by you
forever. Refold the cookie into it’s original shape. Place
the fortune cookie in the freezer and after a few hours, it will
be hard again - waiting to be cracked open.
- Propose under a waterfall with the water
cascading over you, it’s the ultimate in exotic romance.
- Plan a romantic picnic, or an afternoon of
hiking together. Have a banner printed that says “Marry me?” and set
it up in the distance. Bring along a pair of binoculars, look
through them, and then pass them to her. Tell her to look at the “white
thing.” As she looks through them and sees your proposal,
put the ring on her finger
- Spend a romantic day at the beach, take her snorkeling and discover
the ring while the two of you are looking at the coral.
- Take her for a long walk on the beach. Ask the help of a good
friend and have a special area set up with flowers, champagne,
and a few performers from the orchestra and a proposal written
in the sand.
- Get a custom made sweater for your dog that
says, “Will
you marry me?” Plan a walk ahead of time and have her meet
you at the park. When she arrives, have the dog greet her with
your proposal.
- If she wakes up each morning to the clock radio, arrange for
an ad on her usual station. Time it so she hears your proposal
when she wakes up in the morning. Try to be at her door (or beside
her) when she hears your public proposal, and have the diamond
in hand.
- Go for a walk in the rain without umbrellas for an intimate
and romantic experience. Pause under a tree, lean over and kiss
her, then put the ring on her finger.
- Charter a yacht and spend an elegant and romantic evening together
on the open water. Bring her close and tell her....
